Volunteer Credit Info

Welcome to our band family!

We’re excited to welcome everyone to another great marching band season! Volunteers play a huge role in the success of the Waseca Marching Jays, from helping with uniforms and props to chaperoning events and supporting fundraisers. Your time and support help create an unforgettable experience for our students and strengthen the pride and community of our program. We encourage everyone to get involved and help make this season one to remember!

All marching band families are required to participate in specific fundraisers and competition events throughout the season. We need everyone’s help to make this season a success.

CREDIT REQUIREMENTS

A minimum Needed to have:

  • 3 Specific Jobs - 1 Marching Classic, 1 Competition, 1 from Garage Sale or Concessions

  • 2 Extra Jobs - These may come from any category

  • 1 Raffle  - 1 pack of 5 Raffle tickets ($25 per each ticket)

(These requirements are per band student so if you have 2 or more students you need to complete the 3-2-1 for each student)

Volunteer Jobs

Where do I Sign-up

The Band Boosters utilize Sign-up Genius. The Sign-ups will be posted at

https://www.wasecabands.com/volunteer

Be sure to sign up under your email address and list your student’s name so that we can be sure to assign the credit to the right family.

How do I complete my requirements?

The Boosters have broken up each Fundraiser and competition into smaller jobs/positions. The Boosters will then post the needed jobs/positions in a sign up list. Each work slot on the sign-up will generally cover the needed requirement, “credit”,  for that event.

What is Fairshare?

All money earned by group fundraisers is broken into 2 parts. The majority of each group fundraiser is placed into a specific account for the band students,”Fairshare”, and the remainder placed into the Band Booster account to pay for Booster expenses. Booster expenses are things like food for the students at competitions, staff for the band camps, props, extra funding for transportation and show costs. The portion that goes to the students, the  “Fairshare” is divided out to each student for each year that their family completes their Credits.  That portion goes into the Student’s personal account and can be used to cover band expenses. (Note this money is only placed into the student’s account every 3 years.)

  • Listed below are some of the many Volunteer opportunities and the amount of credit received.

  • Volunteer opportunities are subject to change based on what is needed.

  • Volunteer credits are not transferable and do not carry over. They are an annual requirement to help in sharing the workload to support the band.

  • Please keep in mind that these minimum requirements do not meet the demand we have for volunteers. The band needs all parents to donate their time and talents as much as possible.
